Public EV Charging Stations
In May of 2024, Ogden City held a "plug-in celebration" to mark the opening of its first four public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, located in the Municipal Building parking lot. The stations were funded in part by Rocky Mountain Power's EV Infrastructure Make-Ready Program. The stations may be used, for free, for two hours at a time. The stations are equipped with J1772 plugs, and charge at 10 kWh.
In April 2025, Ogden City, in partnership with Rocky Mountain Power and Electrify America, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for eight new 350 kW Direct Current (DC) fast chargers at Historic Union Station. This significant addition to Ogden’s charging infrastructure will provide a fast, reliable, and convenient charging experience for electric vehicle (EV) drivers traveling through the region. The new DC fast chargers were paid for by Rocky Mountain Power’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program. The chargers are owned by Rocky Mountain Power and operated by Electrify America. Prices are not set by Ogden City, and the city does not receive revenue from the chargers. Learn how to register for lower charging costs at RMP stations by clicking here.
Fleet Electrification Efforts
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program (EECBG)
Ogden City applied for and received a grant through the US Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program to purchase several EVs and charging stations, along with the installation costs, for its fleet, at no cost to the city. This is the city's first foray into electric fleet vehicles. Data from the EVs, such as mileage, fueling costs, and maintenance costs, will be monitored through a pilot program, which will inform future fleet electrification efforts.
