Planning
The Ogden Planning Division coordinates the future land uses in the city. We do this by:
- Helping property owners who want to develop, modify, or subdivide their properties to meet city land use ordinances.
- Creating and amending land use plans, zoning, and development codes.
- Helping citizens to know what is happening in their community and giving them opportunities to share their thoughts and participate in planning.

Board and Commissions
Ogden's Planning Division support three citizen committees that have specific authority for land use planning in Ogden.
Planning Commission
The Ogden Planning Commission is a board of nine citizens, appointed by the mayor. Their main duties are:
- Creating and recommending amendments to the Ogden General Plan.
- Recommending changes to the Ogden's zoning map and zoning ordinances.
- Considering certain land use applications, such as conditional use permits and subdivisions.
The commission's regular meeting is the 1st Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. They also have a work session on the 3rd Wednesday at 5:30 pm. Meetings are at the Ogden Municipal Building, 2549 Washington Boulevard, 3rd Floor.
The deadline for submitting an item for Planning Commission consideration is 5:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month prior to the commission meeting.
Landmarks Commission
The Ogden City Landmarks Commission was established in 1979 for the purpose of “protection, enhancement, perpetuation and use of structures, sites and areas and natural history”. This group of local citizens volunteer their time to review the proposed exterior alterations to buildings designated as local historic resources.
Ogden has several areas where the concentration of important buildings or buildings that were the homes of important people exists. These are preserved and recognized as Historic Districts.
In addition to historic districts, Ogden also has individual buildings that are important to the history of Ogden and it's development.
The commission meets monthly on the 4th Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. They meet in the Ogden Municipal Building, 2549 Washington Boulevard, 3rd Floor Council Chambers.
Board of Zoning Adjustment
The Board of Zoning Adjustment is a board of citizens, appointed by the mayor, that considers appeals, variances, and special exceptions to the zoning ordinance.
The board's regular meeting is the 4th Wednesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor Council room, 2549 Washington Blvd.
