American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course
Learn the skills you need to keep swimmers safe! This comprehensive training covers water rescues, surveillance techniques, CPR/AED, First Aid, and professional lifeguard responsibilities.
The course includes:
- Online portion: Approx. 7 hours (must be completed before the first in-person session)
- In-person instruction: Approx. 22 hours of hands-on skills and scenario practice
Participants who successfully complete all course requirements will earn an American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification valid for two years.
Completing this course can also open the door to employment with Ogden City Recreation Aquatics! All students who pass, are hired, and work at least 120 hours will be reimbursed $75 and receive a lifeguard fanny pack, hat, and CPR mask.
- Prerequisites: Must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class and pass a swimming pre-test.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification
Opportunity to review the course content in a formal setting. Individuals with a current American Red Cross lifeguarding/first aid/CPR/AED certificate may participate in a recertification course. Online class content is seven hours and must be completed prior to the first day of class. Note: Must attend all classes. Skill test on first day; continuation depends on passing.
