The Ogden Police Department Investigations Bureau is comprised of two divisions: Major Crimes and Special Victims (SVU). Each division is staffed by highly trained detectives who bring experience, expertise, and dedication to the pursuit of justice and community safety.
The Major Crimes Division is responsible for investigating serious offenses such as homicide, robbery, aggravated assault, arson, frauds, and property crimes. Detectives in this division gather evidence, interview witnesses, and collaborate with forensic experts to solve complex cases. Their goal is to ensure that offenders are held accountable, and victims receive justice.
The Special Victims Unit (SVU) focuses on cases involving vulnerable populations, including victims of sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence, and elder abuse. Detectives in this division receive specialized training to handle sensitive investigations with compassion, discretion, and professionalism. They work closely with victim advocates, medical personnel, and social service agencies to provide comprehensive support to survivors.
The detectives of the Investigations Bureau form a vital component of the Ogden Police Department’s mission to protect and serve. By employing modern investigative techniques, leveraging interagency partnerships, and maintaining a victim-centered approach, the bureau works diligently to resolve cases and strengthen the safety and trust within the Ogden community.
