OGDEN — In their meeting on April 9th, 2024, the Ogden City Council unanimously approved Mayor Benjamin K. Nadolski's appointment of Jared M. Johnson as the new Community & Economic Development (CED) Director.
Johnson, an Ogden City employee with experience in the CED Department for nearly a decade, spoke of his excitement and eagerness to continue his career in this new role.
"This is a huge honor and it is not something I take lightly,” he told the Council. “Community and Economic Development needs to make investments. We need to push. I don't see any reason why we would take our foot off the gas and back away from what we've done. We will continue to move forward."
Johnson began his tenure with Ogden City in 2015 as the Building Services Manager and was promoted to Deputy Director of the department in 2022. Most recently, Johnson has been serving as the Acting CED Director since January of this year.
Mayor Nadolski acknowledged Johnson's contributions and reiterated his confidence in the appointment.
"We need good people in every position,” he said. “Jared Johnson's a man who's hungry for growth. He doesn't find the answers out of nowhere - he finds them through and alongside others."
City Council Chair Ken Richey appreciated the sentiments from the public input regarding Johnson's high character, experience, and work ethic.
"As we've gone through this process I've gotten to know Jared pretty well,” he said. “I really do believe he is the right for the job at this time and I am excited to support him as well."
As the CED Director, Johnson will oversee several divisions within the city, including Arts, Culture, and Events, Building Services, Business and Economic Development, Community Development, Planning, and the Ogden-Hinckley Airport.
The Ogden City Council looks forward to collaborating with Johnson and anticipates a productive tenure.
